Gaibandha is in Northern of Bangladesh. Gaibandha district was established in 1984. It is a part of the Rangpur Division and located on the bank of Brahmaputra River. The ancient name of the area was Bhabanigonj. The district consists of 7 Ppazilas, 3 Municipalities, 82 Union Parishads, and 1249 villages. The Upazilas are Fulchhari, Gaibandha Sadar, Gobindaganj, Palashbari, Sadullapur, Sughatta and Sundarganj; the municipalities are Gaibandha Sadar, Gobindaganj and Sundarganj.
